A panel formed by the Municipal Corporation to recommend terms and conditions of paid parking has proposed three options for parking fee. A meeting was held here today under the chairmanship of Arun Sood.

Members finalised the terms and conditions of tender document for the operation and management of paid parking lots and multi-level parking in the city to be placed before the General House to be held on June 28.

The committee decided that no parking fee will be charged for pick-&-drop in parking lots within 5-minute time period. The members also decided that no parking fee will be charged for non-commercial electrical vehicles at paid parking lots run by the MC.

The committee recommended imposing heavy penalty clauses up to Rs 10,000 for violations in smart parking feature, services, etc. It proposed cancellation of contract if smart parking features are not complied with within the stipulated timeframe.

The committee decided that a parking app will be developed by the MC for showing real-time occupancy, locations and complaints, digital/e-payment system, LED display, month parking passes, entry & exit point kiosks, information boards regarding rates and free parking space, smart card, boom barrier facility at Elante Mall and lake parking lots, HD night-vision CCTVs and compulsory e-ticketing etc.

The members also decided to create four zones for running paid parking lots throughout the city.

Regarding rates for all parking lots, excluding Elante Mall, Fun Republic, Mani Majra, and Piccadily, Sector 34, the committee proposed & recommended 3 different rates to be finalised in the General House meeting.
