Panchkula, September 14

An all-round effort helped Panchkula crush Chandigarh by 179 runs in the Haryana State Inter District U-19 Trophy today.

Put into bat at the JR Cricket Stadium, Barwala, Panchkula scored 225/4 in 40 overs with Kshitij Sharma and Nehal Pajni sharing a 124-run opening partnership.

The duo was separated when Pajni holed out deep long on at 59. His 77-ball stay in middle was studded with five fours and a six.

Mohit Kharab, who walked in at the fall of Pajni, played a perfect foil to Sharma as the two added another 75 runs to the total.

Sharma was finally dismissed for 85 runs, including eight fours and a six. Kharab contributed 33 runs to the total, while Vivek Vashisht made a whirlwind 20 off nine balls to propel the side to 225.

In reply, Chandigarh were bowled out for just 47 runs in 34.3 overs. Leg spinner Shivam Chaudhary was the pick of the bowlers for Panchkula, returning with figures of 4/17.
