Punjab BJP chief felicitated

The Department of Legal affairs, BJP, Punjab, felicitated Shwait Malik, Rajya Sabha MP, on his elevation as the BJP president, Punjab, at Law Bhawan, Sector 37, here, on Thursday.

While Malik was honoured, Lekh Raj Sharma, HoD, Department of Legal affairs, made certain demands from him like provision of funds to be allotted to the Bar Council and the Bar Association in the General Budget of the Central Government.

Other demands included provisions to make 50 per cent reservation for wards of advocates in prime law institutes, 50 per cent reservation of ladies for appointment of notary public, Rs 25,000 per month to young advocates as stipend in initial three to five years who are financially weak and vacancies of High Court Judges to be filled up as early as possible, among others. Malik assured the gathering that the demands would be met as they were justified.
