Due to incessant rain today, several parks, roads and rotaries remained inundated. At some parts, commuters had a tough time anticipating their way through waterlogged roads.

Water accumulation was reported in various areas, including Sector 48, on the road dividing Sectors 45 and 46 (near Gaushala), Sector 45 and outside the District Courts Complex in Sector 43. The situation was worst in villages, including Burail, Mani Majra, Maloya, Daria, Khuda Lahora and Dhanas. At some areas in these villages, water got accumulated, leaving area residents troubled.

Even water accumulated at the parking area in Sector 34, making it tough for visitors to park their vehicles.

“It was impossible to leave our houses as accumulated rainwater entered into our houses. Now, this accumulated water will remain here for next few days, leading to breeding of mosquitoes. The MC never takes village areas seriously, we only get assurances,” said Bhag Singh, a resident of Khuda Lahora.

Roof collapse due to rain

Fatehgarh Sahib: A portion of the roof of a room of a physically-challenged person collapsed due to heavy rain in Jalla village.  No loss of life has been reported.  House owner Gurjant Singh said he was physically-challenged and unable to work, so his wife was working as a MNREGA worker to make both ends meet. He urged the government to provide him immediate relief . — TNS


Devotees had tough time at Mansa Devi

Panchkula: Due to continuous rain since last night, devotees who had turned up at Mata Mansa Devi also faced problems. Today, as many as 39,000 devotees turned up for darshan on the third day of Navratras. The kutcha roads leading to the main entrance turned into muddy lanes and devotees were seen facing difficulty to cross these lanes. Meanwhile, roads in Sector 19 were also waterlogged. The motorists also faced difficulty in driving their vehicles. During rainfall, the motorists also find it difficult on the roads, which are full of potholes like the Industrial Area road, Bella Vista roundabout and internal roads in many sectors. — TNS
