Panchkula, January 20

Slamming the BJP government for demolishing houses of the poor in Surajpur Seuri during extreme cold conditions, Vijay Bansal, a senior Congress leader and former chairman, Haryana Kisan Congress, demanded immediate rehabilitation and compensation for the victims.

While addressing victim families, Bansal said, “The anti-people face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been exposed as it had first demolished houses and now misguiding people by providing false consolation.”

Recently, Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) had demolished houses of the people, who were living there for the past 70 years, with JCB machines, he added.

The government had first spent crores on providing facilities like roads, electricity and now by ignoring directions of the Supreme Court had demolished their houses without rehabilitating them, he said.

Officials carrying out demolition drive had to return without taking action as some house and shop owners had filed a case in the High Court, he added. They had deposited amount under the regularisation policy so their houses and shops could not be demolished, he said. — TNS
