Residents block road over power cuts

Irked over unprecedented power cuts, residents of AKS Colony on Thursday night blocked the Zirakpur- Patiala road for over an hour, causing inconvenience to commuters.

Residents said there was a power cut of more than eight hours. Unhappy over it, they blocked the road around 10.30 pm and demanded restoration of the power supply immediately.

The protesters also placed tyres on the road to block traffic. The protest also led to a scuffle with police officers who tried to pacify them.

The residents said they had been facing difficulties due to power outages, which had affected their day-to-day work.

Meanwhile, PSPCL officials said a transformer was being replaced and the power supply would be resorted within a few minutes.
