Six booked on assault charge

Acting on the complaint of Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Kuranwala village, the police have booked six persons of Mahiwala village. The complainant alleged he was attacked by the accused on Saturday night.

After the victim lodged a complaint, the police registered an FIR against the six accused and started investigation.

Gursimranveer Singh, Sub-Inspector (SI), Dera Bassi police station, said in his complaint Sandeep had alleged that on Saturday night when he was returning home after attending a religious function at nearby village, Gurmail Singh, Narinder Singh and Makhan Singh, all residents of Mahiwala village, along with their three unidentified accomplices intercepted and physically assaulted him.

The victim was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, where he was undergoing treatment, the Sub-Inspector added.

“The police have registered a case against Gurmail Singh and his five other accomplices under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Dera Bassi police station,” he said. “Further probe is on,” he added.
