Patiala, December 31

After years of neglect, the heritage fountains at Baradari Gardens will get back lost glory in beginning of the new year. In fact, six fountains located at the gardens were made functional after the restoration work was completed here today.

The fountains that grace Baradari Gardens received a makeover after the Chief Minster (CM), Captain Amarinder Singh, directed the district administration to complete the vital project at the earliest. Indeed, the revival of Baradari fountains, a dream of the Punjab CM, was one of the salient projects of Patiala.

The renovation of the six old Baradari fountains was carried out by the Patiala Drainage Department. After renovation, the Drainage Department handed over the project to the Horticulture Department.

“In the first phase, only six fountains have been restored. The Municipal Corporation is supplying water for these fountains. We have installed an underground tank, which will recycle water to avoid wastage,” said Davinder Singh, Chief Engineer, Drainage Department.

“The remaining fountains at the Baradari Gardens will be made functional in the coming days,” he added.

“The fountains will be functional in the morning as well as in the evening. These will actually welcome daily walkers of the city at Baradari Gardens,” said Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit.
