Three accused of killing dog, attacking canines with axe, acid

Three persons of Nadiali village, here, have been accused of killing a dog and injuring nearly 12 canines, kept at a private dog shelter of the village by a local animal lover Resham Dhaliwal. 

In her complaint to the police, Dhaliwal alleged that three persons, including Balwinder Singh, his son Jimmy and their domestic help Dharminder, attacked the dogs with sticks, axe and acid. 

Dhaliwal alleged that of the lot she found one dog dead and 11, including pups, some were injured with grave cuts, burn injuries with acid and fractured limbs. As many as 20 dogs are missing and I am sure that the trio has killed and buried most of those,” alleged Dhaliwal. 

She claimed that her caretaker Pinky was an eyewitness to the attack and she too ran to save herself. 

The Mohali Police, which has not registered any case in the matter, claimed that nothing of this sort had happened at the spot. 

“A dog from the shelter had bitten the son of Dharminder following which both the parties had a minor altercation. We went at the spot today and found nothing of such sort,” said inspector Rajan Parwinder Singh, station house officer of Sohana police station. Dhaliwal, who runs the Protection and Care for Animals (PACFA), has taken some place on rent from Balwinder Singh to run a dog shelter at Nadiali village near the city international  airport. 

Dhaliwal also alleged that the attackers also stole flour and rice bags from the shelter.
