A park opposite Shiv Shakti Mandir in Sector 30 is facing neglect with two-wheeler riders driving on walkers’ path, heaps of garbage and stinking toilets posing troubles to the visitors.

Bikers zipping past morning and evening walkers on the walking track are a common site. They not only pose risk to walkers but also damage the green area in the garden. However, park attendants and the MC seem to have turned a blind eye to the nuisance.

“It is annoying to have a speeding bike going past you while you are on a walk. What is the difference between roads and walking track in parks? The authorities concerned must plug the gaps through which bikers enter the park,” said Manmohan Singh, an evening walker.

Besides, garbage was found dumped on the rear of the toilet, which stinks. Pieces of papers, wrappers, disposable glasses and empty soft drink bottles litter the park.

A chunk of horticulture and general waste was found behind the houses near the entrance from the temple side. “Horticulture waste is thrown here by workers and is not removed for several days. It not only causes a foul smell but also play a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies. The MC staff must lift the waste the same day,” said Radhika Kumari, a local resident.

Local councillor Devinder Singh Babla said, “People taking their bikes inside this park is an old problem. I have asked the officials concerned to close the open places from where people enter the park on bikes. As far as the waste is concerned, it is mainly horticulture waste. We will get it removed.”
