Renewing the talk of “people’s participation” in eye of the next year’s Lok Sabha elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to contest the 2019 general elections with public funds.

Claiming to be cash-strapped, the AAP will run a national fundraiser campaign from tomorrow after its launch by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal at Talkatora Stadium.

“The party will reach out to donors as a part of its campaign for monthly donations of at least Rs 100,” said AAP leader and minister Gopal Rai.

“Till now random donations or the party was getting money through cheques. We used to get some but we had stopped that too earlier. The party is facing difficulty in taking its political plans for the next elections. Kejriwal doesn’t have funds to manage the party. So, tomorrow we’ll declare a number for monthly donations,” Rai added.

He said the AAP will hold a meeting of all its office-bearers, along with ministers, MLAs, and MPs, at Talkatora Stadium where the “AAP ka daan, rashtra ka nirmaan” will be launched.

The campaign team will be led by national executive member Prithvi Reddy. Under it, the party workers will also go to those interested to get the National Automated Clearing House (NACH) form filled for monthly donations.

People can donate online or by dialing a missed call number that will be launched tomorrow. “For those who wish to donate offline our representative will be visit the donor to collect the donations either through a NACH form, cheque or cash up to Rs 2,000 in case of one time donations,” Rai stated.

The AAP also made its trade wing chief Brajesh Goyal its in charge for the New Delhi Lok Sabha Cconstituency and Rajpal Solanki, owner of several business establishments, as its West Delhi Lok Sabha in charge.
