New Delhi, January 17

Independent member of the DSGMC Gurmeet Singh Shanty has approached the court seeking a stay on the executive members' election to be held on January 19.

Shanty said the Delhi Gurdwara Act, 1971, has no column for early election of executive members. It is done after every two years. The due date of election is March 29, he said.

The court has called the DSGMC and the Directorate of Gurdwara Elections tomorrow to hear their point of view for the early election.

The DSGMC had declared the election on December 6, 2018, in a general house meeting when the DSGMC president, Manjit Singh GK said he would not join any post of the gurdwara committee until he was cleared from all the allegations levelled against him.
