The 19-year-old son of former education minister of Manipur has died under mysterious circumstances after falling from the second floor of a restaurant in Hauz Khas Village, South Delhi, last night, said a police official. According to the police, the cause behind the fall is yet to be ascertained.

The police have registered a case of culpable homicide after the youth's family members suspected a foul play.

Siddharth was the son of former education minister of Manipur M Okendru and was staying with his elder sister at the Safdurjung Development area. He had recently completed his Class XII from a school in Delhi, according to the police.

Police sources say that he had gone to the restaurant alone and had ordered some drinks for himself and took a seat at the terrace. His driver returned home after dropping him at the spot. Restaurant employees were alerted when someone found him lying in a pool of blood.

He was taken to Safdurjung Hospital where he died during treatment. "We were informed about the incident by the restaurant authorities after which an investigating officer reached the restaurant and later the hospital to establish the cause of death," said additional DCP (South) Chinmoy Biswal.

However Siddharth's sister has alleged a foul play in the incident. But, so far, the police have not found any eyewitness and any concrete evidence regarding the allegation.

According to the DCP, “We are also scanning the CCTV camera footage to determine the sequence of events that led to his death which will be crucial.

The body would be handed over to the family members after an autopsy today.
