New Delhi, October 21

The second maha aarti at Yamuna bank on Saturday was marked by former minister and Aam Aadmi Party rebel leader Kapil Mishra’s jibes at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was supposed to attend the aarti organised by senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and East Delhi MP Maheish Girri at Kudesia Ghat.

The aarti at the Kudesia bank saw Lt Governor Anil Baijal while Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia chose to miss the occasion. Earlier during the day, Mishra, who simultaneously organised an aarti at Sonia Vihar, mounted a fresh attack on Kejriwal on the issue.

Mishra, who had led the first Yamuna Maha Aarti last year when he was a cabinet minister, took a jibe at the Chief Minister over the presence of crowds at his programme as compared to the one where the latter was to join.

The event was first organised last year with an aim to revive the culture and heritage of the ailing river.
