Sisodia asks officers to submit weekly reports

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today ordered secretaries of his departments to submit weekly reports on the status of pending proposals in writing at a time when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) dispensation has entered into yet another round of tussle with bureaucracy with officers’ boycotting meetings to lodge protest against the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.

In written notices, Sisodia directed principal secretaries (education) and secretaries (art, culture and languages) to submit statements to him on proposals and matters, along with their expected timeline, every week as per Rule 17 of Transaction of Business Rules (1993).

Sisodia, who has issued separate orders to two department heads, has also sought lists of proposals and projects about which weekly reports are to be submitted. The heads are supposed to specify reasons for the delay in any project.

“If any matter relating to the Education Department is pending with any other department, then it is the responsibility of the Principal Secretary (education) to find out the current status and give the reasons for the delay and include it in the report. Merely stating its pendency with another department will not suffice,” Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, said in the order to the Principal Secretary (education).

In his orders Sisodia also reminded about an order he issued on December 29, 2016, regarding submission of weekly reports while stating these reports have not been submitted for the past several months.
