Govt issues licence to 571 security agencies

The Delhi government has granted licences to 571 security agencies while 58 applications for getting licence have been rejected and 321 applications are pending due to non submission of no objection certificate (NOC) from certain agencies.

The Delhi government has granted licences to 571 security agencies while 58 applications for getting licence have been rejected and 321 applications are pending due to non submission of no objection certificate (NOC) from certain agencies.
Principal Secretary (Home), Delhi government Arvind Ray said the objective of streamlining of security agencies is to create and prepare a database of private security workforce in Delhi.
"Fifty-three security agencies have filled in information in respect to 6,259 guards. After all the licensed security agencies have furnished online information, we shall have database of approximately 65-70,000 security guards in Delhi, which will be a great help to the government," said Ray.
Giving information on National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) references, Ray said to streamline the monitoring of NHRC cases, the department has nominated nodal officers in all the departments.
He said a state-of-the-art training institute for skill development of fire protection and prevention will soon be constructed at Budanpur Majara in 72 bigha piece of land. Apart from this, the reconstruction of fire headquarters at Connaught Place has also been sanctioned.
Giving details of fire stations, Ray said at present 56 fire stations are functional in Delhi and six new stations are being constructed. Induction of 15 small fire fighting units has been made on Mahendra and Toyota vehicles for quick response in congested locality of the city.
