‘Details can be worked out after alliance’

After hectic campaigning across the states, UPCC president Raj Babbar is taking a well-deserved break in a well-known naturopathy centre in South.

How will the Congress victory in the three Hindi-speaking states impact Uttar Pradesh?

There is a lesson for the BJP and its star campaigner Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. They have realised that they can no longer brush the real issues bothering the farmers, youth, small traders and women under the carpet. It is the victory of the deprived and those mistreated by the BJP rule.

Would it help bring the SP and the BSP closer to be a part of a grand alliance at the national level ahead of the Lok Sabha elections?

I sincerely hope so. The senior leaders have to take the call and come together to work out an agreement. As Congress president Rahul Gandhi made it clear in his first interaction with the media, he would work towards bringing all parties on board to ensure the removal of the BJP government at the Centre and in states and a Prime Minister who has not bothered to listen to the people.

The SP and the BSP expect the Congress to show large heartedness. Comment.

Everything can be worked out once there is a broad agreement. It is now clear that there are two types of political parties in India. One believes in capturing political power by spreading hatred; the other kind believes in upholding the Constitution. The differences within the latter are a matter of detail which can be worked upon as long as the intent is right. — SN
