The Chandigarh Police have arrested two youths for allegedly demanding an extortion of Rs 2 crore from a woman of a business family by threatening to upload her obscene video clip on YouTube and other social networking sites.

The victim, who was being threatened through messages and phone calls for about a fortnight, had been negotiating with the suspects and subsequently a deal was struck for Rs 2 lakh. The victim approached the cyber crime cell of the UT police, which laid a trap and arrested the youths when they came to collect the money at a fuel station in Sector 21 on October 7.

The suspects have been identified as Vivek Kumar (18) and Abhishek Kumar (23). Both of them were remanded in judicial custody on Friday. They are school dropouts and their fathers are washermen in Sector 21 and Sector 19.

Sources said a domestic help, who had attempted to make a video clip of the victim while she was taking a bath, was at large.

The police have seized two smartphones from the possession of the suspects, which have been sent to the CFSL, Sector 36, for examination.
