21 elderly return from Gangotri

DEHRADUN: Elderly who returned after performing the Gangotri shrine pilgrimage under the “Mere Buzurg Mere Teerth” scheme were welcomed by Chief Minister Harish Rawat here today.

Elderly who returned after performing the Gangotri shrine pilgrimage under the “Mere Buzurg Mere Teerth” scheme were welcomed by Chief Minister Harish Rawat here today. 

Rawat said it was an endeavour of his government to ensure that elderly were adequately respected in the state. He said he was in favour of promoting domestic tourism. Twenty one elderly thanked the Chief Minister on the occasion.

Under the initiative, the state government, through the GMVN and the KMVN provide free food, accommodation and travel for all yatris aged 

65 and above.
