Voting went underway for 14 Municipal Councils and 28 Municipal Committees in Haryana on Sunday in an election that is believed to be particularly significant as it comes three months after violent protests by Jats in the state.

Bhiwani: Voting process for 21 wards of Dadri MC polls start. 38,000 voters will cast their votes. 106 candidates are in poll fray. Kurukshetra: Average 12 per cent polling registered till 9.30 am in Municipal Council polls at Ladwa, Pehowa and Shahbad in Kurukshetra district. 

Karnal: Voting underway at four MCs including Taraori, Assandh, Nissing and Gharaunda for 197 candidates. Some 27,058 voters — among them 12,879 female and 14,179 male voters — will cast their ballot in Gharaunda; 16, 622 voters including 7755 female and 8867 male at Assandh, 11057 including 5213 women and 5844 men, in Nissing; and as many as 17,815 voters — among them 8,368 women and 9447 men— will vote at Taraori Municipal Council.  Average voter turnout reaches to 64 per cent in Karnal until 1.45 pm.

Ambala: 51.7 per cent polling registered in Naraingarh until 1.30 pm.

Jind: 22.2 per cent voting in Narwana, 35.8 per cent in Safidon, 34 per cent in Uchana and 23.6 per cent in Jind until 11.30 am.

Rohtak: Largely peaceful polling for Meham MC, nearly 50 per cent voters cast ballot until noon.

Hisar: Polling peaceful in Barwala and Hansi towns where 67.6%  and 60.5% polling recorded until 3 pm.
