A team of the CIA Staff, Bahadur Singh Wala, has busted a gang of robbers with the arrest of five persons from the Lehal Kalan village area, Moonak.

All gang members reportedly worked as “granthi” in different gurdwaras.

Satnam Singh, in charge of the CIA Staff, Bahadur Singh Wala, said after getting a tip-off, the CIA team raided the site where the gang members were planning to loot petrol stations, banks and liquor vends and arrested them with weapons.

The CIA in charge said they had arrested Kuldip Singh (Ladda), Gagandeep Singh (Badrukhan), Gurwinder Singh (Gujran), Harjinder Singh (Bhutal Kalan) and Nirbhey Singh (Bhutal Kalan).

He said Gurwinder Singh was a permanent granthi in a gurdwara at Bhutal Kalan village, while the remaining four worked as part-time granthis in different gurdwaras.

He said they told the police that due to meagre income they indulged in criminal activities to make both ends meet.

He added that the police had recovered a 315 bore pistol, an air gun, a sharp-edged weapon (khukhri), an iron pipe and a screw driver from their possession.
