Dehradun, February 20

A delegation of senior Army officers from Sub Area (Dehradun) today met Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh. The meeting came in the backdrop of the claims made by the officers in the Chief Minister’s security that obstacles were put up at the site of landing of Chief Minister TS Rawat’s helicopter at the GTC helipad.

The Uttarakhand officials remained tight-lipped about the issues discussed during the meeting, though unofficially a top official said that the obstacle incident was also discussed.

There were also doubts if the government would follow up with the complaint lodged against the Army men at the Cantonment police station on Sunday.    A senior officer in the department of home said that the government was awaiting the report by the police in the matter.

Significantly, as the Army and the civilian area is not properly demarcated, instances of the army men protesting against the entry of civilians have been on the increase. No effort has been made to sort out these issues so far.
