Mussoorie, May 26

President of the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (P) Trivendar Singh Panwar today announced the name of Anirudh Sharma as its candidate from the Mussoorie Assembly segment for the next Assembly elections. He opened the party’s regional office near Bhatta village.

Panwar, while addressing mediapersons, said both BJP and Congress had shamed the people of the state with the drama that was unfolded to usurp power by unfair means in the Vidhan Sabha.

He said both parties had done nothing but looted “jal, jungle and zameen” (water, land and forest) of the state at the behest of their bosses in Delhi and people were ready to discard these two national parties from the state politics. Panwar said corruption would figure as a major issue in the next Assembly elections.

They would highlight all misdeeds and the courting of the governments with the mafias during the election.

Panwar said population of the state had gone up from 80 lakh to 1.20 crore in the past five to six years, which was indicative of the fact that the people from outside the state were benefiting and not those who had fought for the separate statehood.

He said the UKD would make a policy to ensure that 70 per cent jobs in industrial zones were given to local youths.

He said unity within the party was not a concern as most of the leaders, who had acted as agents of the Congress and the BJP, had already been shown the door. He said the party was trying to rope in young blood. The party had enrolled 50,000 members, he said.

Anirudh Sharma said both parties had done nothing for the people of Mussoorie and instead indulged in mudslinging exercise. The problems of parking and water scarcity have remained unaddressed while leaders from both parties have fought over hoisting the National Flag or beating up of the police horse Shaktiman.

He said voters of Mussoorie knew what was good for them. “They will vote accordingly and show the door to both parties,” he said.

Panwar declared Madhu Dhaundiyal as the central president of the UKD women cell and Venkat Raman as the president of the legal cell.

Party’s district president Balvinder Singh Negi and district youth cell president Saurabh Ahuja said they would support the party candidate wholeheartedly.

Senior UKD leader Latafat Hussein, SD Petwal, Amit Semwal, Ashish Yadav, Dimple Gusain, Sameer Mukherjee, Rahul Yadav, Raj Kishor Yadav and Jagdamba Kothari were present on the occasion.
