Cane crushing gets rolling at Yamunanagar sugar mill

Yamunanagar, November 22

Saraswati Sugar Mills (SSM), one of the largest sugar mills of the country, started its crushing operation here today fixing a target to crush 140 lakh quintal of sugarcane this year. DP Singh, senior vice-president (cane), SSM, said 119 lakh quintal of sugarcane was crushed at the mill last year, adding that the sugarcane area under SSM command had increased to 80,000 acre from 74,000 acre last year.

According to information, the state-advised price (SAP) is Rs 310, Rs 305 and Rs 300 per quintal for early, mid and late varieties of sugarcane, respectively.

Shahabad mill to have ethanol plant

Kurukshetra: Shahabad Cooperative Sugar Mill will soon have an ethanol production line. During the inaugural session of sugarcane crushing at the mill, Minister of State for Cooperation Manish Grover said the plant would be established at a cost of Rs 82 crore. Grover said the state government had made elaborated arrangements to ensure timely payments to farmers. This year, Haryana had registered 18 per cent more production of sugarcane, he said. The minister said the Shahabad mill had set a target to crush 65 lakh quintal sugarcane, which was 6.5 lakh quintal more than the last year’s record.

Crushing target up in Kaithal

Kaithal: A target of 35 lakh quintal has been fixed for the current sugarcane crushing season against the last year’s 28 .68 lakh quintal. This was stated by Deputy Commissioner and Kaithal Cooperative Sugar Mills chairman Sanjay Joon after inaugurating the 26th cane crushing season here on Tuesday. He said this year, sugarcane had been sown on 16,665 acres. Last year, the mill had produced 2.9 lakh quintal sugar while this year, 3.53 lakh quintal sugar was expected to be produced at the mill.
