Hisar, July 28

A CBI team visited the Municipal Corporation (MC) office here today to verify the death certificate of a Modal Town resident, Kishore Kumar Yadav, who was an accused in the admission scam in Punjab Engineering College (PEC) through NRI quota in 2010.

Sources said Yadav was out on bail recently. When he did not return to jail, the court issued him an arrest warrant. When a police team arrived to nab him, his family members handed over his death certificate to the team. A CBI team visited the MC office today to verify this death certificate, said the source. Rajesh Mehta, secretary of the MC, said they provided all documents relating to the death certificate issued by the MC office, which was issued after the verification of the municipal councillor of the area.

The CBI busted a racket in September 2010, which used to issue forged NRI identity proofs, mostly of Nepal, to the Indian students who obtained admissions in PEC on these forged documents on the NRI and foreign students’ quota. Dr Nishi Kant, who also belongs to Hisar, was the mastermind of the racket and10-11 persons, including Yadav, were involved in it. They had provided forged documents to ensure admission to 11 students in the BTech course in PEC.
