City gets two awards for solar energy

CHANDIGARH: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy( MNRE), Government of India, today announced two awards for the UT, Chandigarh,

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy( MNRE), Government of India, today announced two awards for the UT, Chandigarh,

The city has been ranked first among the solar cities of the country in terms of solar power installation. Chandigarh has installed 7.7 MW solar energy, whereas second ranked Gandhinagar has installed 7.2 MW solar energy as on date.

In another category, first position has been conferred on CREST among best performing SNAs( state nodal agency for renewable energy) among UTs and special category states. The awards will be conferred on June 7, 2016, in Vigyan Bhawan by Piyush Goyal, Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy.
