Cong demands relief for veggie growers

BHIWANI:Leader of the Congress Legislature Party Kiran Choudhry today demanded relief for the vegetable growers who suffered losses due to demonetisation.

Bhiwani, December 20

Leader of the Congress Legislature Party Kiran Choudhry today demanded relief for the vegetable growers who suffered losses due to demonetisation. She also demanded the state government to release the wages of MGNREGA workers who have not been paid since August.

Choudhry said the vegetable growers had to sell their perishable produce at throwaway prices, for want of liquidity in the wake of demonetisation, resulting in huge losses.  She claimed more than 3 lakh MGNREGA workers across the state had not been paid wages since mid-August. “Some MGNREGA workers and vegetable growers met me and told me about their pitiable condition. They have no money to buy essential food items. The government should pay the MGNREGA workers their dues.” — TNS
