Haridwar, November 25

The Satat Sankalp Yatra of the Congress aimed at showing the party’s commitment towards the development of the hill state will reach Har-ki-Pauri here on November 27.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat and Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay are expected to take part in the Haridwar leg of the yatra, which is being held both in Garhwal and Kumaon.

Mahanagar committee district Congress president Anshul Shri Kunj says party workers are quite enthusiastic about participating in the yatra, which is getting an overwhelming response from people across the state.

On November 27, the yatra will reach Brahma Kund, Har-ki-Pauri, and later pass through Upper Road, Devpura, Ranipur Chowk, Arya Nagar, Jwalapur, BHEL, Shivalik Nagar, Bahadarabad and Piran Kaliyar.

It will cover Lakshar, Sultanpur, Padartha, Pherupur and Jagjeetpur next day and will conclude at Kankhal. Harish Rawat and Upadhyay will address the gathering there.

“Through this campaign we are trying to highlight mass development works done by the Congress-led government as well as various projects that are in the pipe line. We will expose the bias of the BJP-led Central government against the state for providing funds and technical assistance for projects. The Uttarakhand government organised Ardh Kumbh and the Shravan Kanwar pilgrimage, which witnessed a record 2.60 crore Lord Shiva devotees in just two weeks, on its own this year. Union ministers are visiting Uttarakhand but keeping silent on the issue of adequate financial assistance to the state. Through the Satat Sankalp Yatra we will also highlight this political game being played by the BJP, which claims to be concerned about the people of the hill state,” says Shri Kunj.

Maha Nagar unit spokesperson Anurag Sharma says all wings of the party in the district has been asked to make all efforts as the campaign will give direction to the mission 2017 of the party that is to win minimum 45 seats in the state and nine seats in Haridwar district.
