Haridwar, February 18

Former legislator and Congress candidate from Ranipur-BHEL Ambrish Kumar has said the good turnout of voters in Roorkee (64) to highest Lakshar (82) in the 11 Assembly segments of Haridwar district indicates pro-Congress voting.

Ambrish said at his home at Jwalapur that Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s contesting the elections from the Haridwar rural seat was instrumental in attracting votes for the Congress.

He added Harish Rawat as Haridwar MP from 2009 to 14 had carried out several development works in the district that had deeply impressed local residents.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s recent rally also boosted the morale of party workers. He added that Haridwar has the highest legislators and this would ensure that the Chief Minister would be from the district. He alleged the BJP used illegal means to influence voters.
