Chandigarh, October 27

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today announced a 10-day-long mass contact programme with Punjab farmers and farm labourers to apprise them on how they would be brought out of the debt trap once the party forms the state government in 2017.

Addressing a press conference here, AAP national spokesperson and incharge Punjab party affairs Sanjay Singh; Punjab convener Gurpreet Singh Waraich; Punjab Dialogue head Kanwar Sandhu; and legal cell head Himmat Singh Shergill said from October 29, the party would launch the mass contact programme across the state.

“The aim of the programme, which will be held from October 29 to November 7, will be to apprise the farmers and farm labourers about our manifesto and how we have made a commitment in it to waive their outstanding debt by December 31, 2018,” said the party leaders.

Waraich said the party would also expose the misleading propaganda of the Congress in which they are distributing forms to all and sundry pledging a loan waiver.

“One has to read the forms being distributed by the Congress clearly to know its bluff. The Congress is saying in the forms that it would support the debt waiver without saying whether the party would actually do it if voted to power,” said Waraich, showing forms of both parties to the media.
