Council Dy Chairman calls on Governor

SRINAGAR: Jahangir Mir, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council, called on Governor NN Vohra here today. Mir briefed the Governor about various issues which were coming up before the Legislative Council during its ongoing session.

Jahangir Mir, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council, called on Governor NN Vohra here today. Mir briefed the Governor about various issues which were coming up before the Legislative Council during its ongoing session.

The Governor and Mir discussed certain issues relating to the socio-economic development of Poonch district, including problems arising from recurring hostile activities from across the LoC.

A delegation of the All India Fair Price Retailers Foundation, led by its working president Prahlad Modi, also called on the Governor.

The delegation, comprising Himat Bhai Patel, Grish Juyal, Avey Gupta, Aijaz Ahmad Khan and Abdul Rahim Shah, informed the Governor about several important issues related to infrastructure and functioning of fair price shops. They discussed with Vohra difficulties being faced by depot holders and retailers with regard to distribution of fair price items among the public.

They demanded that the government should take time-bound action to provide a remedy to problems in the functioning of fair price shops. Vohra promised to take up the issues with the government. — TNS
