DC appeals to SGPC members, NGOs to contribute

Rajat Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana appealed to the members of Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee belonging to Ludhiana district, social organizations, industrialists, Non Government Organisations and public in general to make Ludhiana accident-free by contributing to “Road Safety Week.” The week will be celebrated from January 11 to January 17.

He said this while holding a meeting here today. Following this, representatives of all organizations assured their contribution. Deputy Commissioner said that during Road Safety Week, different awareness based activities, camps and competitions will be organised. In the meeting all the industrialists were appealed to install reflector tape pr paint on the backside of their products like cycles, rickshaw, tractor etc. They were also appealed to adopt villages and should own the responsibility of installing reflector tapes or paints on the vehicles. Rajat Aggarwal asked representatives of schools that they should not allow their students less than 18 years of age to drive vehicles and those driving should have license with them. All the schools should made students aware about traffic rules. All present there appreciated special campaign of police nakas which is being run by the collective effort of district administration, NGOs, media and lawyers. The representatives if different organizations requested to continue this campaign. Deputy Commissioner appealed NGOs to take the responsibility of making people aware about traffic rules. He also appealed the Block Development and Panchayat Officers to make announcements in the village gurudwaras to make villagers aware about traffic rules. The meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Khanna) Ajay Kumar Sood and SDMs.

Installing reflector tapes/paints

Gurmeet Singh Kular, representative of FICO, said he will get the reflector tapes for 100 trailers of villages. While representative of District Bhattha Association said that he will get installed reflectors on 15,000 tractors. Rotary Club said it will help the district administration in providing maximum doctors during the eye testing camps. While V- MAD, an NGO, assured to make students of five schools aware about traffic rules. This NGO will also make public in general aware about traffic rules at city roundabouts with the help of children.

SGPC members to support the cause

Deputy Commissioner held a separate meeting with SGPC members and heads of different religious organizations and appealed them for helping the administration. DC was assured of making people aware about traffic rules at block and village level with the help of Gurudwara management committees.

They also decided to install reflector tapes/paint on the backside of vehicles. Boards related to traffic rules will also be installed during religious functions.
