Dr Taneja retires as vet varsity VC

DHIANA: After giving a new shape to Punjab’s Livestock sector through research, academics and extension delivery system for concept of white and blue revolutions, Dr VK Taneja retired as the VC of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University after completing two successful terms.

After giving a new shape to Punjab’s Livestock sector through research, academics and extension delivery system for concept of white and blue revolutions, Dr VK Taneja retired as the VC of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University after completing two successful terms. Dr Taneja, a renowned veterinary scientist and policy-maker, was appointed the VC in December 2006.

He led the university through the commissioning of the new campus and in the renewal of the animal husbandry sector in Punjab. Working closely with the state government, While explaining his thoughts for future, he said: “More dedication towards work might bring good results. Scientists should attempt for more research work and projects. We should keep in mind needs of farmers and end users. Right and effective education might be delivered to students and farmers.”

State should fulfill required funds for development. Need-based research and extension activities were prerequisite condition of progress. ‘Live everyday with new desire and handover the baton with transmitting new dreams to next generation, he added.

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Teachers’ Association organised a warm farewell function on his departure.
