Tehri DM Jyoti Neeraj Kherwal reviewed the progress of MNREGA in the district at a meeting held at New Tehri here today. She expressed dissatisfaction at the delay in linking of Aadhar cards of workers under various development blocks in the district.

She directed the officials to complete the Aadhar card linking work in a stipulated time and at an increased pace. She directed the District Development Officer to take stock of the progress on a daily basis.

She said the gram panchayats where jobs had been given for 70-80 days should make an effort to provide jobs for 100 days and where the jobs had been given for 40 days, proposals be made for 60 days’ work at the block development officer level.

The District Magistrate directed the officials that the SC/ST dominated gram panchayats should be selected for 100-day jobs in the proposals at priority level to improve the economic condition of the marginalised people.

She was apprised by the Food and Supply Department that 14,146 cards have been completed from the target of 34,528 in the district and the digitisation work had also begun.

Chief Development Officer Dr Ahmed Iqbal said out of the proposed Rs 110 crore under MGNREGA, Rs 80 crore has been received by the district and the money would be utilised by February end.

He said out of the targeted 119 Rajiv Gandhi Sewa Kendras, 45 had been constructed in the district while work was on at 22 kendras and 18 kendras were to be updated soon. Out of targeted 69 anganwari kendras, the work on 35 kendras was complete while it was still on in the remaining kendras.
