Contrary to the perception that youths don't take much interest in politics, they were seen raising issues and changes they want to see after the Assembly elections. Some of the students share their views with The Tribune reporter Gurvinder Singh

Transparency in disbursal of funds

The government should upgrade educational institutions, including schools and colleges. It is the duty of government officials and ministers to provide best educational facilities. Wards of all government officials and ministers should study in government schools and not in private schools. There should be total transparency in disbursal of funds at all levels and how the public money is being spent. There should be inter-department checks and inspections, rather than intra-department checks to curb corruption and jiggery-pokery. — Tejinder Bhogal, a student

Quality education is a must

Quality education is a must. The government must raise the standard of education to the international level on priority. Major changes in the educational policy are needed and the government must focus on this. There should be mid-term voting or referendum to judge the performance of the government and take action on the basis. — Baljeet Singh, a student

Govt must create job opportunities

Political interference in the Police Department must end. There has been too much political interference in the police department which is not good for democracy. The government must create job opportunities for youths. — Hardeep Singh, a student

Government must fulfil its poll promises

Keeping at least 60 per cent of the promises made in the poll manifesto must be made mandatory. The condition of agriculture and roads is worse than ever. Making roads must not be extolled as it is the job of the government. Candidates should have a good academic qualification. Ministries should be given to deserving candidates. — Inderpreet Chahal, a student
