IIT, Roorkee, will organise the 13th edition of their annual technical festival Cogninance 2015 from March 27 to 29. Spread over a span of three days, Cognizance is a conflation of over 180 events, a mélange of technical competitions, theme events, guest lectures, workshops, exhibitions, techtainment shows and much more. It is a celebration of technophilia and technovation.

One of the largest of its kind anywhere in the world, and second largest in India, Cognizance attracts a large participation both nationally and internationally. In its previous edition, it witnessed participation in excess of 3000 pouring in from over 1500 technical and management colleges from across the country in addition to the 5000 students of IIT, Roorkee, itself.

"Cognizance 2015 will surely stand up to the expectations of the academic as well as the technical fraternity and will set new landmarks this year. I would like to see the convergence of various social initiatives this time as it is our responsibility to work for the betterment of society in an effective way. I am looking forward to a lot of enthusiasm and energy this time,'' said Prof. Pradipta Banerji, Director, IIT, Roorkee, during a curtain raiser of the event held at Roorkee .

Keeping in mind the need to spread knowhow about interpretation of mythology for scientific world, Cognizance 2015 is organising a pre-fest lecture of Prof. Paula Richman on the topic of ''Cognition and Indian epics: Narratives that are good to think with.''

"The guest lecture by Paula Richman will go a long way in strengthening our slowly ebbing away interests in mythological and philosophical genres. This would surely be the harbinger of a new thinking based upon rationality and practical thoughts,” claimed Pratik Toshniwal, convener, events, Cognizance 2015 .
