The Jind Tehsildar’s office is again in the news for wrong reasons as the SDM has seized 150 files pertaining to registration of properties and issuance of residential certificates. The officers concerned allegedly adopted a pick-and-choose policy while clearing files.

Jind Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi withdrew the powers from Jind Teshildar Rajinder Verma last month after detecting irregularities in his working and gave the charge to Safidon Tehsildar Roshan Lal. But Lal has allegedly been not giving adequate time to the Jind office seriously, causing great inconvenience to locals.

“I have seized 150 files pertaining to the registration of properties. Strangely, these officers had hidden these files in almirahs. I have started investigation to find out as to why they withheld these files but cleared others,” said Jind SDM Virender Sehrawat, who raided the office last evening after getting complaints of irregularities in the tehsil office.

Apart from seizing 150 files of pending fresh registrationof properties, the SDM has also seized 30 applications for duplicate copies of registered sale deeds and 500 applications for residential certificates, which had been pending for the past more than one month.

The staff concerned of the Revenue Department had been delaying all such files despite clear directions from senior officers to clear all such applications on the same day.

After complaints of corruption , the Haryana Government directed all Deputy commissioners in March to complete the process of property registration and issuance of residential certificates on the day of receiving the application.

But the confiscation of month-old files from the Jind office has exposed glaring violations of the government orders.

“Despite orders to clear all applications on the same day, Jind tehsil officers kept these files pending for more than a month. After inquiry I would recommended strict action against the guilty officers” said SDM Sehrawat.
