Amritsar, December 15

Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson and Majitha candidate Himmat Singh Shergill today clarified national convener Arvind Kejriwal’s statement on the SYL issue.

On the sidelines of a party rally in Majitha yesterday, the Delhi CM, when asked whether Delhi and other states has claim on Punjab’s waters, he replied: “Bilkul hai, sabka hak hai (Certainly, everyone has the right on it).” Shergill said Kejriwal’s statement was presented in a distorted way.

He read out Kejriwal’s statement, “Punjab has all rights on its waters. It has no water to spare for others. We will not allow waters to go outside”.

Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal said: “Kejriwal’s statement shows his double face. He has come to take share of Punjab waters.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal alleged in Jalandhar today, “With the aim of becoming the Chief Minister of Punjab, Kejriwal has ‘ensured’ the defeat of AAP leaders Bhagwant Mann and Himmat Singh Shergill by announcing their candidature from Jalalabad and Majitha Assembly constituencies, respectively.”

“Having a dictator’s credentials, the Delhi Chief Minister has foiled the entry of cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu in his party, fearing that the latter might replace him,” Sukhbir alleged.
