Chandigarh, January 5

From singing sad and critical songs about the Aam Aadmi Party for almost a year, singer-turned-politician Jassi Jasraj is back in the reckoning in party affairs.

Jassi had unsuccessfully contested the Bathinda Lok Sabha elections on AAP ticket. He was upset that Kejriwal never came to campaign for him.

The party’s national head Arvind Kejriwal reportedly succeeded in placating him and some others in a series of meetings that went past midnight.

And in his own way of expression, Jassi reportedly sang a song praising the AAP and the leadership. He was appointed vice-president of the state wing, general secretary of the campaign committee and made the spokesperson of the party.

Kejriwal also placated others and appointed some of them on different posts. A party release said Jagdev Singh Garcha was appointed president of the pensioners’ cell. Surinder Kaur and Govinder Singh were appointed senior vice-presidents of the cell while Atma Singh and Nazar Singh were given the responsibilities of vice-president and general secretary respectively. Manjeet Kaur Ghuman and Sukhdev Singh were appointed secretaries of the wing.

Will campaign with Mann: Jassi

Bathinda: After being appointed AAP vice-president, Jassi Jasraj on Thursday said he would campaign along with Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann as they did in Delhi. Earlier, he had levelled serious allegations against Mann on the social media, maintaining that Bhagwant did not campaign for him in Bathinda during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. On asked if the party is considering him to contest from any segment, Jassi said: “It is up to the party to take a decision. I will abide by it.” tns
