Amandeep Khangura, wife of Bittu Khangura along with her brother-in-law Jassi Khangura reportedly control the entire election campaign of “brother” Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, a Congress candidate from Ludhiana South constituency.

Sidhu sought a ticket from the same halqa in the last Assembly elections, but unfortunately his name was dropped.

He started his campaign with supporters at a political rally in Dhandari area on Friday. He was accompanied by his sister Amandeep Khangura, her husband Bittu and brother-in-law Jassi.

Notably, Jassi had also contested the last Assembly elections unsuccessfully from Dakha.

“My joy knew no bounds when my brother Sidhu was allotted a ticket by the Congress party. I was more than excited. I immediately came to India to start a campaign for him. I will leave no stone unturned in ensuring victory for him,” Amandeep said, adding that they would spend each minute in the constituency to connect with voters.

She feels that a candidate must connect with voters to ensure their full support during elections. “Being a moral supporter of Sidhu, my husband Bittu Khangura and my brother-in-law Jassi Khangura will try to connect one on one with area residents. Since the ticket was announced just a day before, we will make an election strategy about the campaign in a day or two and will launch a door to door campaign in the coming week,” she said.

Jassi Khangura, who owns a prominent hotel in the city, said their efforts would definitely yield results. “We will start meetings with the party cadre and workers soon to devise a strategy,” he said.

Jassi went on to say that the sitting MLA from South constituency Balwinder Singh Bains had shown dreams to area residents, but he failed on development front. “Bains brothers are aggressive by nature, but they are unaware about the ground reality and issues of people. They hardly do things which they say aggressively,” Jassi said.

Sidhu’s uncle and Jassi Khangura's brother, Jagpal Singh Khangura also took part in the political rally.
