Kurukshetra, September 19

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said the state government had planned a mega sports event to mark the golden jubilee of the state’s formation.

“International sportspersons will be invited,” he said. The CM was in the city to attend the 85th birthday of Swami Satyamitranand.

On the annual Gita Jayanti, Khattar said a programme had been chalked out to extend celebrations to the block level. “A five-day festival starting on December 6 will be organised. Artistes and prominent figures across the globe will be invited to Kurukshetra for Gita Jayanti.”

He said the celebrations would be held in 126 blocks in the state.

Khattar lauded initiatives of the Swami for the disabled and students from weaker sections in Hardwar. Swami Satyamitranand was awarded Padma Bhushan for his social activities.

Khattar said Swami Satyamitranand, who had established ‘Bharat Mata Mandir’ at Hardwar in 1983, was a source of inspiration for future generations.

Various religious leaders and the CM observed two-minute silence in the memory of 18 soldiers killed in a terror attack at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir.
