Kidnapped 7-year-old boy rescued; four arrested

Patiala police on Wednesday rescued the 7-year-old boy who was kidnapped from outside him house in Manjit Nagar area of the city. Four persons have been arrested.

Police said the accused were unemployed and into drugs and committed the crime to make quick bucks. The child was rescued from Patran, almost 48 hours after he was kidnapped.

A ransom of Rs 30 lakh was demanded by the kidnappers.

Police identified the boy as Hartejibir Buttar whose father JS Buttar is in the Legal Department.  

“The father of the boy is currently deputed in Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur, as a lecturer,” police said.
