GIS mapping complete for selection of PHCs

The Department of Health has completed the GIS mapping of Primary Health Centres to be covered under the National Urban Health Mission, a programme catering to the medical and health needs of the urban poor living in the slums.

The Department of Health has completed the GIS mapping of Primary Health Centres to be covered under the National Urban Health Mission, a programme catering to the medical and health needs of the urban poor living in the slums.

In all 36 primary health centres would be targeted under the NUHM covering districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, Roorkee, Haldwani, Rudrapur and Kotdwar.

In Dehradun district 16, in Roorkee seven, in Rudrapur three, in Haridwar five, in Haldwani four and in Kotdwar one primary health centres would be covered.

All these centres would provide general OPD, ante natal care, post natal care and immunisation and all programmes under reproductive child health and national programmes.

The programme will be run through the NGOs for which around 20-25 lakh would be allocated. “We will start the selection process of NGOs in January after which the delivery of services through the NGOs would be started.’’

GIS mapping for selecting PHCs was carried in October-November through state agency USAC so that PHCs that cover around 50,000 population could be selected,” said Neeraj Kherwal, Director, National Health Mission.
