LPG connections for 5 lakh families by March’17: Khattar

With a view to making the state kerosene-free, LPG connections would be provided to about 5 lakh households by March 31, 2017, said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, while addressing a gathering in Nuh today.

“Mewat is as dear to me as any other district and my heart pains to see lack of development. We are taking special endeavours to start development from the grass-roots level though face continuous politically-motivated criticism from opposition parties. Even today, I have inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of various development projects to the tune of Rs 102 crore,” he said.

He announced a slew of projects like extension of Dubalu minor and Uleta minor to Ujina drain, two pipelines from Chhapeda to Indri and Chhapeda to Kurthala, construction of stadiums at Indri, Kira, Chhapeda, Ujina Gangoli and a ‘vyayamshala’ at Aaldoka.

He also announced setting up of 33kV substation in Ujina and Indri villages, opening of a driver’s training school in Chhapeda village, public health centre in Kaliyaka, sub-health centre in Aata, apart from construction and four-laning of various roads.

The Sainik Board Office building would be constructed at a cost of Rs 5 crore and offices of various departments would be constructed on the land of the Irrigation Department, he said, adding community centres would be constructed in Nuh and Nagina. He also announced to give Rs 15 crore and Rs 5 crore for development works in the rural and urban areas of Nuh district, respectively.

The Chief Minister felicitated gram panchayats that had been declared open defecation-free. “Our key aim is to work and let the change speak. We have been largely successful in curbing corruption. Earlier, projects were completed at more than the estimated cost, but our government has completed several projects at less than the estimated cost. These include Punhana bus stand which has been completed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore instead of the estimated Rs 3 crore. Similarly, Rs 1 crore was saved on the construction of the bus stand at Ferozepur Jhirka and Rs 10 crore on the 36 acre bus stand in Jhajjar,” He added.
