Hisar, October 9

The five member team of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) started an inquiry into the sexual abuse of 19 girls in an ashram in the district today.

Sources informed that the members went to the shelter home where the girls have been staying after they were shifted from the ashram. They also visited the ashram located in Kaimri village where the girls had been abused during their stay some months back.

The team was accompanied by the ADC Vijay Kumar, Child Welfare Committee members and the officials of the Woman and Child Development Department. The team requisitioned the record of the victims who were admitted in the ashram during the past three years and other relevant documents from the authorities.

During their two-hour long interaction with the girls, the members kept the all other officials out of the room. The team again summoned some of the girls at the mini -secretariat where counsellors accompanying the members have been taking their statements. The NCPCR team is likely to complete its inquiry tomorrow.
