CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has revised guidelines for the grant of minority status to the minority educational institutional in the state.

The Haryana Government has revised guidelines for the grant of minority status to the minority educational institutional in the state.

An official spokesman said the Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, would be the competent authority to grant recognition to the minority educational institutions in Haryana. The minority status would be accorded to the applicant society by the state government if a minimum of two-third of the members of the society or trust belonged to the same minority community and a certificate for each member was submitted, which was issued by the SDM concerned, he added.

He said at the time of submission of the application, the sponsoring body should be in possession of two acres of land either by way of ownership or on a perpetual irrevocable lease of at least 33 years in case when the proposed land fell in municipal limits and five acres in case the land fell in the rural area.
