Oct 7 deadline to build toilets: DC

UNA, SEPTEMBER 24

Deputy Commissioner Vikas Labroo today said the supply of electricity and water to houses without toilets will be disconnected after October 7. Presiding over a meeting of Block Development Officers here, he said out of the 1,13,719 families in the district, 5,256 families were still defecating in the open.

Labroo said panchayats not cooperating would also face action under the provisions of the Panchayati Raj Act. He said a financial assistance of Rs 12,000 was being provided to the families living below the poverty level for construction of toilets. — OC
