Dehradun, February 13

A search committee has been constituted to fill the vacant post of Vice-Chancellors in four universities of the state.

The Governor office has conveyed to the search committee to immediately convene a meeting for filling of vacant posts of VCs at Sridev Suman University, HNB Medical University, Uttarakhand Open University and Sanskrit University.

Significantly, due to the delay in the constitution of the search committee, the tenure of incumbent Vice-Chancellors of Sridev Suman University, Uttarakhand Open University and Sanskrit University has been extended for three months.

Though the Vice-Chancellors of Sridev Suman University and Uttarakhand Open University have completed their tenures, the tenure of the Vice-Chancellor of Sanskrit University ended on Friday.

The post of Vice-Chancellor of HNB Medical University has been lying vacant for a long time. The Vice-Chancellor of Technical University is holding its additional charge.

Now, the state government is keen that the search committee constitutes the new Vice-Chancellors as early as possible so that it  need not have to extend the tenure of incumbent Vice-Chancellors.
