Mild tension gripped Bhalsi village falling under Matlauda police station on Saturday morning as villagers demolished a temporary gaushala set up on the village ‘gaucharan’ land. The police led by DSP Des Raj and SHO Vipin reached the spot after getting information about the demolition; they said the situation was still tense, but under control.

Talking to The Tribune, state chief of Haryana Gaushala Sangh Acharya Yogendra said over 100 villagers demolished a temporary gaushala around 9am. A ‘sevadar’ and several cows were injured in the incident.

On the other hand, when former sarpanch of Bhalsi village was contacted, he said: “Several outsiders set up a temporary gaushala without our knowledge or getting the consent of the villagers. We brought the matter to the notice of the DC, SP and the SDM, but to no avail. Therefore we demolished the gaushala, as the land belongs to our village.”

At this, vice president of Guashala Sangh Azad Singh Arya said, “This is ‘gaucharan’ land. If villagers form a committee to run the gaushala here, we will vacate this land.”
