Aiming at developing scientific temperament and instilling instinct of innovation among students of government schools, the district administration has joined hands with Makers Box, a company working for nurturing talents of the students.

A camp, mera khula aasman, was organised here at Kalidas Rangshala today in which 1,000 students of various government schools of Karnal block participated and interacted with experts.

DC J Ganesan announced to open an innovation lab to nurture the talent of the students. He also assured to start such camps in the all blocks of the district to harness the talent of government school students.

The participants submitted ideas for innovative solutions, out of which 100 would be shortlisted and a two-day-long innovation camp will be organised on December 24 - 25 where experts would help the girls for giving shape to their ideas.

During this camp, a hair band produced through a 3-D printer was one of the main attractions. The innovator of this product Harpreet Kaur Sapra, who is a maker evangelist, is working on the project to develop a 3D dress.

Similarly, students enjoyed other projects like a drone and air purifier project.

It was an effort to make the students aware about science and its innovations, besides shaping their creativity. Now, they have decided to develop a laboratory for such innovations, the DC said.

All equipments would be provided to students in this lab for giving shape to their ideas, he said.

The students should come forward to give the shape to their ideas, which would help them to be an inventor, said Rajeev Gupta, another maker evangelist. —TNS
